Ask A Data Mentor: Introduction
Before we get to the podcast, I wanted to say how grateful I am for you! I needed to step away from a lot of the things I was doing in the last couple of weeks and you all have still been so supportive of my content.
Here are a few changes, with your input, that I have made.
I reached out last week for feedback on what you wanted this newsletter to be like and the majority voted for one newsletter to keep it simple.
I ended up changing the section “The Career Corner” in my newsletter to this Podcast, “Ask a Data Mentor.”
These changes will make these topics more personal to you. I would love to hear feedback if this is not the case. Without delay, check out this week’s episode.
And for today’s podcast, here is the transcript.
Hey everyone and welcome to the first episode of Ask A Data Mentor Podcast! I am Sarah Floris and will be your hostess.
This episode is really about introducing what this podcast will entail, who I am, and how I can help you through your journey.
I have been in the data space for over six years now, and am currently a senior data and ml platform engineer. I am also the owner of Dutch Engineer, my company whose goal is to educate and empower those in this field by strengthening their coding skills in machine learning and practical data ops. These courses are available at dutchengineer.org/courses.
This podcast will take a slightly different direction. I want to answer some questions that I had when I was entering this field. One question that constantly plagued me was whether I should become a data engineer or data scientist and what those roles entailed. I had no idea what that meant, and often, these questions were not answered directly or openly. I want to change that and provide clear answers to those who are curious about this field.

So sit back, relax, and tune in to the latest episode for an entertaining and educational discussion on all things data-related.
